We had a great stay! The volunteers and staff here are so friendly, always available, and made us feel right at home (shout out to Laurel, Lily, & Jozefien!) Our host, Hernan (Carlos) was available whenever needed and gave us great local recommendations. Some other reviews are complaining about stuff... these travelers did not do their research or don't understand Nica... this is not the U.S. or Canada, so you can't compare. It's not a fancy hotel - it's a clean, safe, friendly hotel with AIR CONDITIONING for a very affordable price (other spots with AC in the area are very expensive). It's not perfect. Who cares? The shared kitchen was spotlessly cleaned every morning, and surprisingly well-stocked: nice frying pans, real dishes, a water filter, and even free bottled water (not stuff you normally find in shared kitchens). The beach is literally across the street, ice cream and a grocery next door, liquor store a block away, restaurants everywhere. Gracias! :)

el lugar estaba limpio, la llegada fue muy fácil, había acceso a una cocina equipada, una mesa en un jardín sito y una terraza frontal agradable. todo muy bien acorde al precio y detalles. esta frente a la playa y fácil de ir caminando. hay lugares cerca para comprar, comer o distraerse un poco.

We loved our stay at Chill Garrobo!The hostel is very well located in the village and you only have to walk 30 seconds to be on the beach.We were 4, our room was big enough, basic but clean and with air conditioning.There are 2 nice outdoor common areas where you can meet with fellow travellers, very good vibe, very inclusive. It's in great parts due to the volunteers who work there and to Dan who runs the place with Hernan. Dan has been the nicest of hosts, very friendly, making sure we had everything we needed but mostly that we had a good time there, telling us about things to do, restaurants to eat at etc. He was a great help when we had a small medical issue. Our 2 teens took surfing lessons with Hernan. On top of efficiently running the hostel, he's an outstanding surf instructor! Very professional, he teaches not just technique but everything you should know about surfing.The kids had a great time, progressed a lot and caught a lot of waves in a safe environment.Thank you!!!

Awesome place. Gigante is the real Nicaragua. Small fishing village that is loaded with nearby surf breaks. The hostal/hotel is right in the center and has everything you need to enjoy being slightly off the beaten path. The host are amazing and will get you well sorted out.

Our room was exactly what we were looking for! Super close to the beach (right across the street), comfortable bed, air conditioning and felt very safe. Restaurants within walking distance. Ice cream shop next door. Small shops to buy grocery necessities. Great local surf spot and board rentals near by! Great offering for a great rate. I would definitely recommend this location!
