For the ultimate family Somerset experience come and stay in our award winning Somerset safari, nestled within the trees of our secluded 6 ½ acre orchard, on the edge of the beautiful Exmoor National Park. All interiors are hand crafted, with the main tent having a kitchenette, an elevated double bed, bathroom with shower, mains electric with heat by way of a lovely wood burner. Outside there is a covered patio area, BBQ and fire pit area, making it the perfect get away, whatever the weather!
The Safari tent is set in the middle of our beautiful orchard. There are two tents, the larger one has its own bathroom with shower and fully kitted out compact kitchen with a mini fridge, sink and hob, plus a double elevated bed. There is pull out sofa bed underneath the raised double bed .The other adjacent tent is smaller with two stacked single beds, designed with children in mind, all within an enclosed patio area. The interiors are to a high standard, using aged cedar and repurposed apple wood, all hand carved by our friends and local artists Karina and Rob Heard, MBE. You will find a log burner to ensure the tent is cosy on colder days. The smaller tent has a small electric heater to keep the children snug at bedtime and a children's night light.
Externally Somerset Safari Tent has a large decking area with coffee tables and chairs for you to sit out on and watch the abundant wildlife that calls our orchard home. Away from the decking you will find a Webber master touch BBQ for all your outdoor cooking needs and an outside seating around a firepit, perfect for toasting marshmallows whilst you enjoy the incredibly dark skies offered by the protected Exmoor Dark Skies reserve, one of the darkest places in the country. You will find some books on astronomy and a dark sky guide inside the tent to help you identify what you are looking at and you may wish to download a Sky app onto your mobile phone, on a clear night you might even see the milky-way! The children will love to explore the orchard and we have a specially designed trail to excite and delight them. Inside the tent you will find a small selection of games, books and puzzles for you to enjoy as a family.
Torre Cider Farm is an award-winning small scale cider producer. The farm has a Farmhouse Kitchen, selling delicious home-made breakfasts, lunches, pizzas, snacks and cakes. There is also a farm shop which stocks locally produced foods and craft products, as well as Torre Cider's own cider and apple juice, pressed on site from our apples. There is a children's playground and a number of very friendly farm animals to feed and pet. We have plenty of local walks you’ll want to take once you see what the countryside has to offer, just ask a member of our team for more information. When you are worn out, but the children are still raring to go, they can clamber onto the stationary tractor in our playground whilst you enjoy a well-earned cuppa or cider on our patio. You are also very welcome to bring the doggy members of your family to Torre Cider Farm although we do ask that they be kept off the beds, are on a lead in public areas and are never left unattended inside. Please be aware we are a quiet campsite and ask for no loud music please and quiet after 10pm to ensure all guests enjoy their stay.
Guests have out of hours access to the children's playground and the beautiful orchard. As a working farm there are some clearly marked areas where moving farm machinery and equipment mean extra care is needed and your access is restricted, and, for your own safety, we ask that you do not enter any of our barns, sheds or outbuildings. We ask guests not to enter our onsite apiary or any of the animal pens during their stay as even the friendliest animal can become unpredictable when frightened. At Torre Cider we love wildlife of all sizes and to encourage them onto our site we have instigated a no-mow policy in some areas of our orchard, this means that as well as seeing some beautiful wild flowers you may encounter a few stinging nettles along the way.
Other things to note Please be aware we are a working farm with the apple harvest being picked during the Autumn months of September and October. As a tourist attraction visitors will be onsite during the day, however, the glamping area of the orchard is not open to the public and this is clearly marked. The firelighters and logs for your first fire are provided, further supplies can be purchased onsite. Charcoal for the BBQ is available to purchase onsite. As a glamper you will have out of hours access to both the children's playground and orchard so why not have an evening BBQ or picnic with a glass of cider or two amongst the apple trees. We also have a very good local pub, The White Horse inn, within walking distance.

Great place for our October half term get away. We particularly liked the separate sleeping tent for our teens. It was very cosy with the wood burner lit and there were lots of little touches that made it a special place to stay in like supplying us with a hammock to put up in the orchard and marshmallows for the fire pit.
Great stay!
I stayed at Torre Cider farm with my two children. We were enchanted as soon as we arrived! The safari tent was well-equipped and full of thoughtful touches. The log burner made the tent very cosy. The night light, comfy beds and the small heater in the children’s tent made for a good night’s sleep for everyone! We loved meeting and feeding the farm animals and playing in the play area. We had a lovely breakfast at the cafe and took pizza back to our tent in the evening, where we sat outside next to the fire pit with the fairy lights on! The children also loved lying in the hammock and exploring the orchard. The cider, apple juice and local beers were also lovely! Nearby we visited the pub (also with play area) and Dunster beach. Overall, a truly wonderful weekend exploring nature and we’d love to come back!
We had a lovely, peaceful stay in the Somerset Safari Tent! Such a pretty setting and lovely to walk around the little apple farm 😍. We loved the animals too! The tent is super for a family, our teen twins had their own tent which was great. Loved lazing in the beanbags on the sunny deck. Great fire pit and a jar of marshmallows was left for us too. Small things to sort would be to fix the fairy lights - we felt very left out looking at all the twinkling magic across the orchard at the teepees lights ;) Watch out for the low doorframe to the bathroom if you are tall - we all hit it with our heads once or twice even knowing it was low. Also, the one plug is the mini fridge so don’t unplug it ;) Great spot to chill out and explore the area from. Delicious breakfast at the farmhouse cafe and of course sampling the local cider ;) Super hosts too and such friendly staff at the cafe. All in all highly recommend for an unplugged break with your little family x
We have just got back from our stay. It’s was beautiful! It was so well equipped even having some marshmallows to toast on the fire pit. The kids really enjoyed the open space as did the dog. We would definitely return!!
Amazing time and super chilled space
We had a wonderful break at Torre Cider Farm. It was wonderfully secluded and the kids loved playing in the playground, exploring the fairy garden, feeding the animals and hanging around in hammocks. It was so relaxing and the safari tent was really comfortable with everything we needed, perfect for hanging out in the orchard. We loved sitting out at night watching the stars come out and the bats swoop overhead. The pub down the road is walking distance, as is Cleeve Abbey. Thanks for a lovely stay.
We had a lovely stay at Torre Cider Farm. We stayed in the Somerset Safari accommodation which had everything we needed. The kids loved the play area, the pigs, and especially loved running through the orchard and discovering a ‘special secret fairy place’ with hammocks to relax in the sun. Everyone enjoyed themselves, so glad we visited and look forward to coming back again in the future. Highly recommended :)
lovely stay, would recommend
Torre Cider is a lovely setting, and the safari tents were perfect. Neil was very proactive and helpful (e.g., allowed us to check-out late at 14:00!). The setting, within the orchard, is very peaceful and beautiful, with flowering apple trees around the tents. From our tents one could barely see the other couple safari tents/teepee, there are only 3 glamping tents and 1 teepee on site (all separated from each other). There are lovely walks around the orchard with lots of peaceful places to sit and things for children to play with. There are some ducks, chickens, goat, and pigs in pens for children to see and feed. The kids loved the playground, which is beside the café. The onsite shop (1 min walk from tent) is well stocked and the food in the onsite café (same building as shop) is excellent. Our glamping consisted of are two safari tents, both very clean and well organised with everything you need. . I highly recommend Torre Cider and hope to return again one day soon.
